It's so cold your diesel is gelling in your filter and tank! If it's 15º windchill or below you run the risk of your diesel fuel of gelling in your truck. As most of you know it will not run when you are gelling!
What a horrible and helpless feeling when you realize you forgot to add some De-gel solution to your fuel. After reading some posts the past few days on FB I realized it caught some of our enthusiasts by surprise.
From what I am seeing on the news most of you diesel owners in the North East are already treated or you are not running. Not only does the additive keep the fuel from gelling but it increases the performance of your engine during cold weather.
You can prevent this from happening by buying a De-Gel additive to our in with every fill-up during the Winter. If you keep your truck garaged then your engine will start and run but you run the risk of it gelling out on the road or if you stop again.
Once it gels you need to get additive in the tank, change your fuel filter, and possibly clear the lines out. Not a fun position to be in when on the road.
DIESEL Motorsports recommends CRC's Cold flow and for those already gelled solid try their Quick Flow! I have used it for two years with never a problem with temps hitting -10 below.
Be safe on the winter roads and don't get caught Gelling!
